ERWINVILLE — Investigators with the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office were working with East Baton Rouge Parish detectives Friday to piece together details of the alleged kidnapping and rape of a woman early Thursday.

Maj. Bryan Doucet, a spokesman with the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office, said an Erwinville man was arrested shortly after the victim identified him as the  man who kidnapped her in the the Baker area Thursday morning, then took her across the Mississippi river to West Baton Rouge Parish where he raped her.

Doucet said authorities received a 9-1-1 call around noon Thursday from a security guard at Lucky Louie's Truck Stop & Casino in Port Allen claiming a woman showed up at the business saying she had been kidnapped and raped.

Authorities said they believe the suspect was in the process of taking the woman back to Baker when he made the stop at the truck stop, giving the victim an opportunity to escape and call for help.

Doucet said the suspect was later arrested on Maple Street in Erwinville. He was driving the car the victim told deputies she was abducted in, he said.

Doucet said Thursday afternoon detectives were still in the "early stages" of the investigation, which his office is working jointly with East Baton Rouge Parish on.

Authorities haven't released the suspect's name yet. He also hadn't been booked on charges as of 4 p.m. Thursday, Doucet said.

Doucet said the victim was transported to a local hospital.
