The Capital Area Human Services District will offer free blood pressure and blood sugar screenings in Iberville, Pointe Coupee and West Baton Rouge parishes.

Along with the health screenings, the LSU AgCenter is offering a series of free “Smart Choices Community Nutrition Education” classes.

PLAQUEMINE: Health screenings in Iberville Parish will be offered from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on the first three Fridays of each month at the Iberville Parish Health Unit, 24705 Plaza Drive, in Plaquemine. Call (225) 687-9021.

NEW ROADS: For Pointe Coupee residents, health screenings are offered from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. every Monday at 230 Roberts Drive, Suite G, in New Roads. Call (225) 638-8900.

The Pointe Coupee Parish Health Unit is offering free nutrition classes from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on the first Thursday of each month at 282-B, Hospital Road in New Roads. Call (225) 638-5533.

INNIS: Health screenings are scheduled from 8:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Innis Medical Center, 6450 La. 1, in Innis. Call (225) 492-3775.

LIVONIA: The Livonia Community Health Center will provide screenings from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at 3041 Fordoche Road in Livonia. Call (225) 637-3535.

PORT ALLEN: The West Baton Rouge Parish Health Unit will conduct screenings from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on the first Thursday of each month at 684 Louisiana Ave., in Port Allen. Call (225) 342-7525.

Smart Choices classes in West Baton Rouge Parish are offered from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month at the same location. Call (225) 336-2416.

Fun with the WBR library

The West Baton Rouge Parish Library presents “Down on the Farm with Farmer Jason,” a concert of punk rock and country music, at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the West Baton Rouge Parish Library and at 1 p.m. in the Dow Westside YMCA.

The library also invites youngsters and their parents to “Zoo Zoom, The Little Zoo on Wheels,” a traveling menagerie from Breaux Bridge at 10 a.m. July 13 at the library.

Horse riding camp

Three ZZZ’s Barn invites campers to register for two Summer Horse Riding Camp sessions to be held from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily July 18-22 and from Aug. 1-5.

Children between 6 and 12 years of age, and of all riding levels, are welcome.
