Kidz Life Christian Academy is the kind of child care facility owner Michelle Scott has always envisioned — a faith-based child care center that fosters a nondenominational understanding of biblical teachings while offering a developmental curriculum, said Scott.

The child care center opened in 2009 as Trinity Tots & Toddlers but changed its name in 2012, according to Scott, of Baker, who has 19 years experience as a child care professional.

The center has the capacity to care for 66 children, ages 6 weeks to 13 years, but currently 40 youths are enrolled, she said.

“Myself and my staff of five teach children how to read, write and work on mathematics appropriate to their age levels,” Scott said.

In addition, morning devotionals highlight Scripture readings that are shared throughout the day.

“We teach universal lessons of faith based on the Bible and conduct plenty of activities and crafts to keep the kids engaged,” Scott said.

On Oct. 23, Kidz Life Christian Academy held a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating being named a three-star center by Quality Start Louisiana, a voluntary program for licensed child care centers designed to increase the quality of child care throughout the state, the agency’s website states.
