Heritage Ranch Christian Children’s Home, located on a 52-acre site in Zachary, on Nov. 1 hosted its monthly day of service.

Volunteers from First United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge, members of Southern University’s Alpha Tau chapter of Delta Sigma Theta sorority and residents from the community participated in a ranch workday.

Work varies each month from gardening and weed eating to painting fences, said Rhett Pritchard, public relations for Heritage Ranch.

“We would love for the community to be exposed to and be involved in these events,” Pritchard said.

Workdays are 8 a.m. until noon on the first Saturday of each month.

Residents, area church groups and organizations are invited to participate.

The next Heritage Ranch workday is Dec. 6.

“We rely greatly on the work of our volunteers to accomplish our mission. The time and energy that corporations, churches, civic groups and individuals give at Heritage Ranch is invaluable,” said Vicki Ellis, founder of Heritage Ranch.
