The Chaneyville Community Center hosted its first community Easter egg hunt March 26 at BREC’s Reames Road Park in Zachary, and the event was a huge success.

Contributing to the event were the Chaneyville Volunteer Fire Department, the Division of Human Development and Services’ Office of Social Services, Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office Pride/Baywood Substation, East Baton Rouge Parish Metro Councilmen Trae Welch and Reames Park.

More than 125 youth attended the egg hunt with their families. Hot dogs, chips and drinks were provided by the Chaneyville Fire Department.

“Many parents expressed their thanks for what we had done for the youth in the community,” said Ann Cox, Chaneyville Community Center director. “We plan to make this an annual event and hope to see everyone next year.”

Cox said the Social Services Office made the baskets for the children, and Mount Pleasant church donated 70 gift bags for the event.
