Advanced drama program students at Northwestern Middle School visited New York City in April.

The four-day trip had the class touring the Empire State Building, Grand Central Station, Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty, Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center, Times Square and the 9/11 memorial, as well as a couple of Broadway shows, middle school drama teacher Paula Swilley said.

“The trip wasn’t only about taking in the sights. We attended workshops taught by Broadway professionals that focused on improvisation and theater,” Swilley said. “It was a fantastic if not eye-opening experience. I can’t imagine what a trip like this means to a 14-year-old pursuing the arts.”
