Festivities in Zachary during the week of Oct. 6-10 included students and staff embracing the 2014 homecoming theme “It’s All in the Game.”

During the week, students participated in building floats, class competitions, spirit days, a pep rally and parade.

Parade judges were Mayor David Amrhein, Brent Bradley, Dianne LeBlanc, Mark Marionneaux and Shawn Ventura.

Zachary Elementary won first place for the second consecutive year for its take on the classic board game Monopoly. ZES created the parade-winning float, Zacharyopoly.

Laura Freeman and the Zachary Elementary Parent Teacher Organization assisted in making the float with the students.

The week ended with a win over Plaquemine on Oct. 10, followed by the homecoming dance on Oct. 11.

Other eye-catching floats were made by students at Rollins Place Elementary, Zachary Early Learning Center and Zachary Career and Technical Center.
