A 33-year-old Zachary man has been arrested after police report his DNA links him to a 2012 rape.

Thomas Mayhall Jr., was booked into Parish Prison on one count of forcible rape.

The victim told police on Nov. 3, 2012, she awoke in a strange house after a night of drinking and found she did not have her pants and wearing only one shoe, the arrest warrant says.

She confronted two men in the home who she said refused to tell her where she was, the warrant says. They also refused to give the address of the home to a friend of the victim so he could pick her up.

Eventually one of the men took the victim to the friend’s house after she threatened to call 911. She then called police and went to a hospital for a sexual assault exam.

Sheriff’s deputies on March 31 arrested Mayhall on a fugitive warrant and about two weeks later, Zachary Police learned his DNA came back as a match to the DNA taken from the rape kit in 2012, the warrant says.

An officer collected two more samples from Mayhall, of 3675 Nelson St., on April 22, the affidavit says. One month later, those samples were found to match the DNA taken from the rape kit.
