The Americana YMCA in Zachary has partnered with locally owned Luckett Farms, of Pride, to provide fresh produce for its members.

For $15 to $25 a week, Luckett Farms will deliver fruits and vegetables to the Y from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. Fridays.

Luckett Farms grows produce without using pesticides or genetically modified organisms.

Using the more expensive chemical-free seeds can put farmers in a financial bind during the off seasons, so by teaming with the YMCA, Luckett is able to maintain an income during that time, allowing them to purchase the seeds.

Participating Y members can benefit from the healthy fruits and vegetables.

To register for the program, visit the Americana Y at 4200 Liberty Way in Zachary or go online at ymcabr.org.

For information, call Kristen Hogan at (225) 923-0653, ext. 1104, or email khogan@ymcabr.org.
