Zachary High School students Herchiel Devalcourt and Kirkland Sheppard received their Intuit QuickBooks software certifications during the school year.
Accounting teacher Brandi Austin said the students were the first to complete the certification in at least seven years.
“I am so proud of these two students. This test is extremely hard,” Austin said.
Throughout the 2014-15 school year, accounting II classes prepared students for introductory-level bookkeeping positions.
The certification signifies that students gained the knowledge and skills to help manage accounting books using the software, Austin said.
According to a survey, Austin says accounting instructors at the college level believe students preparing for an accounting career should be efficient in the program and that this certification measures this specific knowledge.
