Painters and art lovers gathered Oct. 23 at Joie Petite Designs Art Gallery and Studio to participate in Paint ’n’ Pour for Charity, supporting breast cancer awareness.

Participants painted a “Be Strong” pink ribbon symbolizing breast cancer awareness, adding a vase of daisies, according to artist/instructor Joy Petty, Joie Petite gallery owner.

Painters from ages 8 to 60 enjoyed an evening of creativity while honoring friends and loved ones who have battled various forms of cancer, Petty said.

A portion of the proceeds from the night’s event was donated to cancercares.org, an organization assisting patients and families affected by cancer.

In addition to the October session, Joie Petite is gearing up for a November paint session benefiting Zachary’s Pack the Pantry food drive.

On Friday, Nov. 7, artists and nonartists are invited to create a “Give Thanks” painting, and by bringing five nonperishable food items or canned goods, painters will receive $3 off their canvas fee.

“I will have a Pack the Pantry barrel to encourage Paint ’n’ Pour participants and art students to help us fill,” Petty said. “All of the donations will go directly to the food bank in Zachary.”

Monetary donations also will be accepted and donated to Pack the Pantry/Zachary Food Pantry, Petty said. The event is scheduled for Nov. 14.

“Painters will be encouraged to use their imaginations with ‘Give Thanks’ and will also choose their own color schemes,” Petty said.

All art supplies will be provided.
