The Zachary Lions Club is taking applications for a summer vacation for special needs youths in the Zachary, Ethel, Slaughter and Pride.

The Louisiana Lions Camp is north of Leesville. Sessions will include:

May 27 to June 2: One week for youth ages 5-15 with pulmonary disorders. These applications will be assigned by the Louisiana Pulmonary Disease Camp Incorporated and Lions Camp Pelican.

June 10-16: One week for mentally challenged youths ages 8-19.

July 1-7: One week for visual, hearing and orthopedically impaired youth ages 7-19.

July 8-14: One week for diabetic youths ages 6 to 11.

July 15-21: One week for diabetic youths age 11 to 14.

All diabetes camp applications will be assigned by the American Diabetes Association.

The children enjoy a full range of activities including swimming, arts and crafts, archery, gun safety and nature. There is no cost to the parents for the campers’ stay. The Louisiana Lions League for Crippled Children Inc. operates and manages the Louisiana Lions Camp that is financed by voluntary contributions by Lions Clubs and non-Lions organizations and individuals. Anyone, whether a Lion or not may make financial contributions toward the operations of this camp. A life membership costs $100 and can be purchased by contacting local Lions Clubs or the executive director of the Louisiana Lions League.
