A cancer benefit was held for Jodi Hurst Daigle, of Zachary, Saturday and Sunday at Zachary Youth Park in hopes of raising funds for the seriously ill mother.

Daigle, a young wife and mother of a 9-year-old son, was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer and also has cancer in her pelvis, shoulder and spine, according to benefit organizer Danya Heroman, of Zachary.

Daigle has been out of work due to chemotherapy treatments. She is a member of Zachary United Methodist Church.

The benefit included a poker run that took participants from Denham Springs to Chipola, in St. Helena Parish, to Jackson and finally ended in Zachary on July 11. A co-ed and men’s softball tournament both days, as well as music, food and more were featured.

A fund has been established at the Bank of Zachary for those who could not attend the benefit but would like to help Daigle with mounting medical expenses.

Also, within the past three months, friends, family and anonymous donors have been donating to Daigle’s GoFundMe account, set up by Heroman at gofundme.com/rnch7e6.
