Registration is underway and teams are urged to sign up to compete in the Code Red Chili Cook-off.

Cooking teams can pay a $25 entry fee to take part in the inaugural Code Red Chili Cook-off, a cooking competition set from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 15 at The Pointe of Americana in Zachary. Admission to the event is free.

The deadline to register is Nov. 14.

The cook-off event gives area companies, organizations and residents a chance to compete for a good cause, said Julie McLin, director of marketing for Lane Regional Medical Center.

Presented by Americana, Lane Regional, Level Homes and Superior Ford, Code Red proceeds benefit the many projects of the LaneRMC Foundation, such as cancer treatment services at the new Radiation Oncology Center on Lane’s campus, a news release said.

In addition to tasting some chili, activities include music, a live remote with WYNK and craft beer tasting with Brasseurs a la Maison home brewing club.

Superior Ford will sponsor a car show with classic cars and hot rods in celebration of the Ford Mustang’s 50th anniversary.

Local television and radio hosts, chili experts and area leaders will judge the best chili champion, and tasters will vote for the People’s Choice Award, McLin said.

“This event is a first to the region,” said Theresa Payment, director of LaneRMC Foundation.

Teams can register online at LaneRMCFoundation.org or call Payment at (225) 658-6699.
