The largest fundraiser for the Zachary Chamber of Commerce was well-attended April 29 through May 3.
Sunny weather on Saturday provided the perfect backdrop for the many arts and crafts, carnival rides, games, food, music and dancing at the ninth annual Zachary Arts and Music Festival, also known as ZFest.
Carnival rides and games filled the festival site on the grounds of BREC’s Zachary Community Park.
A wine tasting and community picnic were featured, as well as performances by school groups and karate and fitness studios, singing and a fashion show that were held on ZFest stages.
Winners of the Z-Star singing competition Michelle Willis, Bethany Godbold and Morgan King warmed up Zachary-area residents and those from around the region who attended to see performances by the Gillis Silo, Safer Street and Chase Tyler bands, as well as headliner and crowd favorite Rockin’ Dopsie and the Zydeco Twisters.
Dopsie asked fans to forgive his raspier than usual voice. “We’ve just come from Jazz Fest and playing 13-straight gigs,” Dopsie said Saturday evening.
Festivalgoers danced barefoot in the grass or rocked along in their seats to the music.
Katelyn Riles, Miss Zachary/ZFest 2015, led a fashion show along with Miss Teen Zachary, Jacelyn Rasti, and winners of the various divisions in the Miss Zachary beauty pageant held April 25.
