Students at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School in Zachary participated in a St. Jude Trike-a-Thon on Sept. 24 by riding their tricycles in support of sick children and the work of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

The fundraiser at St. Patrick’s teaches the children how to safely operate riding toys, said Beth Kimmell, of St. Patrick’s.

“While learning the rules of the road, the students collected donations from family and friends to help St. Jude achieve its goal of obtaining a 90 percent overall survival rate for children battling childhood cancer,” Kimmell said.

Participating preschoolers were from the classrooms of teachers Michelle Hitchens (under age 2), Natalie Behrnes and Taneisha Davis (2-year-olds), Maddy Adams, Denita Lillie and Karen Saxton (3-year-olds) and Carly Hebert and Janice Wootan (4-year-olds).
