Bill Gaither and the Gaither Vocal Band are performing at 7 p.m. Saturday at the north campus of Bethany Church, 13855 Plank Road, Baker.
The concert will feature an evening of music and encouragement for the entire family, a news release said.
Songs with themes of faith, unity and eternal hope will be performed by the Gaither Vocal Band — Adam Crabb, Wes Hampton, David Phelps, Todd Suttles and Gaither, a Grammy Award winner.
The group will perform gospel classics and new favorites and will be joined by vocalists Charlotte Ritchie and Gene McDonald, as well as guitarist and comedian Kevin Williams.
Gaither continues to be delighted by audiences’ response to the concerts, now more than 40 years after he quit his day job as a teacher, the release said.
“I’ve always said it all starts with a great song, and we are fortunate that each concert includes great songs that have stood the test of time. With all the musical choices that are available now, there is still a special place for the joy and optimism that reside in gospel music. Good news never gets old,” Gaither said.
Named the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers’ Songwriters of the Century, Gaither and his wife, Gloria, have written more than 700 gospel songs throughout their multidecade career, including “He Touched Me,” Because He Lives” and “There’s Just Something About That Name.”
