The Braves’ swim team — composed of sixth-graders from Copper Mill Elementary and seventh- and eighth-graders from Northwestern Middle — finished seventh out of 26 teams at the 2015 Middle School Swim League Championships at Crawfish Aquatics in Baton Rouge on Oct. 24.

Swimmers finishing in fifth-place or better were Jack Dunford, Eric King, Karlie Porter and Abby Yoes.

Other top swimmers for the Braves this season included Hudson Trotti, Maddie Beasley, William Drew, Logan Ladnier, Wade Langston, Cade LeBlanc, Whitney LeBlanc, Christian Sanford, Dana Ward and Olivia Wheat.

The NMS swim team is coached by Lisa McGehee, an eighth-grade science teacher who coaches Zachary High’s swim squad, and assistant coach Jennifer Rushing.
