The Gamma Gamma chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International presented a $100 award to Roberto Cardenas, a Spanish teacher at Zachary High School, during the March 1 Zachary School Board meeting.

Delta Kappa Gamma is a professional honorary society of women educators from around the world that promotes professional and personal growth in education, and each chapter includes both working and retired teachers.

In Zachary each year, the Gamma Gamma chapter awards a teacher $100, whose name is randomly selected from the names of all the new teachers in the school district, said member Ginger Parker, a retired teacher from Zachary Elementary School.
