Shania Sims, 17, a Scotlandville Magnet High student who lives in Zachary, completed an eight-week internship at the city of Zachary on July 23.

Sims presented a video to Mayor David Amrhein and Public Works employees of her on-the-job training with Department of Public Works Director Chris Davezac.

The paid internship was sponsored by Georgia-Pacific Port Hudson.

Sims said she’d like to become a civil or mechanical engineer or perhaps even a public works director, like Davezac.

“Hats off to Chris (Davezac) for providing a great hands-on learning experience for this student,” Amrhein said.
