Beginning Feb. 6 through Feb. 20, bidders will have the opportunity to make continuous online bids for various surplus items owned by Zachary. The city has a wide variety of surplus items including cars and trucks, bulk fuel tanks, computers, auto parts and office supplies.
These surplus items and more can be viewed using Municibid, an online auction site for government agencies at www.municibid.com. All auctions take place online and are available to bid 24 hours a day. Successful bidders pay an eight percent buyer’s premium directly to Municibid.
A link at www.municibid.com/cityofzachary will bring interested bidders straight to the auction site. Select a Region — Louisiana and the City of Zachary items up for bidding will be available for viewing starting Feb. 6.
Last year, using Municibid, Zachary netted approximately $45,000.
“Taking merchandise that is no longer usable and hopefully getting some return of it is a good deal for the taxpayer,” said Chip Troth, Zachary purchasing director.
