Area junior golfers will compete for the third consecutive year in the St. Francisville Area Foundation Junior tournament Monday through Thursday at The Bluffs Golf Club in West Feliciana Parish.
The tournament is part of the American Junior Golf Association, which has an annual membership of about 6,000 junior golfers.
This year’s 54-hole stroke play event will attract some of the top young amateur golfers from around the world, including 18 from Louisiana, but the field is limited to 96 golfers.
Brady Bennett and Stewart Perilloux, both of Zachary, and Connor Wilson, of Greenwell Springs, will join the competition. Perilloux won the 2014 Mizuno Gator Classic in the boys 15-18 division at his hometown course, Copper Mill Golf Club.
A qualifier round begins at 1:30 p.m. Sunday for players trying to earn a spot in the field. The tournament begins Tuesday with tee times from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., and after the first round, a cookout starts at 3 p.m. followed by a 5 p.m. social event for all juniors, parents and guests.The second round tees off Wednesday and concludes Thursday with an awards ceremony.
Everyone is welcome to attend, and admission is free.
