Forty-two alumni of Zachary High School’s Class of 1965 came together June 27 for their 50th class reunion.
The former classmates, their spouses and five former teachers celebrated the milestone at Fennwood Hills Country Club in Zachary.
The group danced to music from the ’60s and ’70s and swamp pop performed by LA 2 Band, socialized and honored former classmates who have died.
A memorial board featuring photographs brought by surviving classmates stimulated plenty of conversation, alumni Ray Hancock and Tanya Stroud said.
The Class of 1965, which included 96 graduates, has reunited every 10 years, but the 40th and 50th reunions have been the most attended, Hancock said.
Most of the 96 classmates live in Louisiana, but others reside in Alabama, Florida, Indiana, Mississippi, Nevada, North and South Carolina and Texas.
“I won’t try to list the accomplishments of everyone, but many have become very successful,” Stroud said. “The most important thing is that when we get together we have a lot of fun.”
Officers from Zachary High’s Class of ’65 include Dale Lea, Dan Moller, Richard Tarver, Malcolm Brown, who was unable to attend, and the late Jimmy East.
