First-year Zachary coach Kenny Almond is off to a good start with his Broncos.

ZHS hosted the Northeast Vikings Nov. 19, walking away with the win, 66-47.

Zachary led in the first quarter 14-6, followed by a 13-point lead going into the break.

The Vikings scored 18 points to Zachary’s 15 in the third, but in the end, Almond and his Broncos rallied for the victory over the Vikings.

Zachary will host Woodlawn on Dec. 1 prior to the annual John Herty Memorial Tournament Dec. 3-6 at ZHS. Boys and girls teams from area high schools, including Baker, Broadmoor, Dutchtown, East Ascension, McKinley, Madison Prep, Northeast, Port Allen and Woodlawn, are scheduled to compete.
