André Brock, associate county agent and 4-H agent for West Feliciana Parish, and Leanna Cupit, assistant 4-H agent for East Feliciana Parish, sent youths involved in their respective 4-H programs camping recently.

The 4-H Club members attended the fall Southeast Region camp held Nov. 10-12 at Tickfaw State Park in Springfield.

A limited number of seventh- and eighth-grade 4-H’ers stayed in cabins at the park, and for fun, they participated in a night hike, went canoeing and made s’mores.

The camp also is a learning experience where the children can learn important team-building, decision-making, communication and conflict resolution skills through practical application, leadership projects and environmental lessons, Brock said.

They learn and practice living together as a group, getting along with others and appreciating people with different interests and backgrounds, according to the 4-H agents.

“Our East and West Feliciana kids meet and make friends with lots of kids from other parishes,” Brock added. “It’s a great experience for them.”
