The senior guys were pitted against the senior girls during Senior Challenge Week at Zachary High School April 18-22.

Each day, a different activity presented itself in the form of a fundraiser: a penny drive, food drive, uniform drive and fundraiser for Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital with the week culminating in Senior Field Day on Friday.

The Fresh Princesses, the girls team, squared off against the boys’ United Streets team with students competing in noodle hockey, a memory matching game, hula hoop pass, pizza-eating contest, balance ball relays, ping pong relays, gum pies, banana feet relays, panty hose bowling, a sponge pass and sack races.

The winning team from each contest earned overall points for the boys side or the girls side.

Game moderator and teacher Megan Southall said it came down to the final contest of the day to determine the winner, and the boys were victorious with a final score of 28-27.

As the winning team, senior guys earned bragging rights, their victory recorded on a plaque in the school’s trophy case and a free dress day.

As a result, Assistant Principal of Instruction Erica Henry had to take pies in the face by the boys’ team captains.

If the girls had won, Principal Joe LeBlanc would’ve had his face bombed with pies, all in the name of some senior fun.
