Marty Roy recently won the annual STAR Award for Achieving Excellence given by Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary.

Roy is one of eight employees who were nominated by patients, physicians, colleagues and family members for the annual award. Nominated were Natasha Barnes, Don Boyte, Alicia Brumfield, Alice Butler, Tamara Dayton, Gail Owens, Jackie Robinson and Roy.

Roy is a registered nurse who has worked at Lane for two years in the intensive-care unit.

“It’s such an honor to be recognized and nominated,” Roy said. “I’m proud to be a part of the Lane family and the ICU team.”

A native of Mississippi, she and her husband, Brent, live in Jackson. In her spare time, she enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time with family.

At the award ceremony on Aug. 20, Roy received a certificate commending her for “Achieving Excellence, Every Person, Every Time,” a crystal sculpture, a Visa gift card and an extra day of vacation.

Those nominated demonstrate excellence on the job and promote Lane’s overall goal of providing excellent service to every person, every time, a news release said.
