Several seniors who attend the Chaneyvillle Senior Center near Zachary every Monday and Tuesday often are joined by an instructor to quilt on Wednesdays.

The site is one of about 11 East Baton Rouge Parish Council on Aging centers.

Seniors with their own equipment, such as a sewing machine, rotary cutters, seam rippers and cutting mat, are invited to participate.

The group meets from 9 a.m. to about 11:45 a.m.

Council on Aging members from Baywood, Pride and Zachary often attend the center at 13211 Jackson Road.

The EBR Council on Aging offers a number of senior centers in various neighborhoods in and around the parish, providing opportunities for the elderly to socialize. Activities include meals, educational workshops, art classes, health screenings, crafts, sewing, quilting, defensive driving classes, computer courses, gardening, games, exercise, guest speakers, entertainers and more.

Lunch is served from noon to 12:30 p.m. weekdays.
