Amazon will donate 0.5 percent on eligible purchases when shopping at smile.amazon.com. Users must select FAZE, the Foundation Assisting Zachary Educators, as their charity of choice to help out local educators.

Administration takes office

The inauguration ceremony for the city of Baker’s new administration is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Friday at the Baker Municipal Auditorium, 3325 Groom Road.

Slated to take oaths of office are Darnell Waites, mayor; Carl K. Dunn, chief of police; and Doris T. Alexander, Glenda Bryant, Norman E. “Pete” Heine, Brenda G. Jackson and Charles Vincent, city council members.

McDavid to speak on safety

The Zachary Chamber of Commerce welcomes Police Chief David McDavid at its monthly Lunch and Learn networking event from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lagniappe Restaurant, 5755 Main St., Zachary.

McDavid will be speaking about safety for your business.

Open house

Dr. Victor Rodriguez and the staff of DPI Pain Management will host an open house from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. July 7 at 4727 W. Park Drive, Suite B, on the Lane Regional Medical Center campus in Zachary.

Playmakers present ‘Just So’

Area youth ages 4 to 11 are invited to enjoy theater at the library beginning at 10 a.m. July 11 at the Pride-Chaneyville Library, 13600 Pride-Port Hudson Road.

A troupe of four Playmakers of Baton Rouge storytellers will perform “Just So” as adapted by Morrey McElroy and based on “Just So Stories” by Rudyard Kipling.

This fast-paced whimsical show will amaze the audience with its fun imaginative style. Registration is required.

Grand opening

The new Lane NeuroSpine Destination Center, 6110 Main St., Zachary, is hosting a grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony beginning at 3 p.m. July 15.

The ribbon cutting will be led by Medical Director Dr. Adam Lewis and SpineMark President and CEO Marcy Rogers. In attendance will be Randy Olson, CEO of Lane, and a number of invited guests from the community.

Volleyball camp

Area girls are invited to participate in Zachary High School coach Madeline Gugich’s volleyball camp from 9 a.m. until noon July 18-22 at Copper Mill Elementary School, 1300 Independence Blvd.

Cost to attend is $125 per participant.

Skiing championships set

About 250 competitors from Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas will participate in the 2016 American Water Ski Association South Central Water Ski Championships slated for July 29-31 at Bennett’s Water Ski School and TriLakes, 18605 Barnett Road, Zachary.

Junior skiers will compete in tricks, jumps and slalom events during the day July 29, followed by an awards presentation poolside at 7:30 p.m. A pizza and pool party will follow for junior skiers and their parents.

On July 30, men and women will compete during the day in tricks, jumps and slalom events followed by a social at Fennwood Country Club beginning at 7:30 p.m. Men’s and women’s jump and slalom events continue July 31.

Spectator tickets are available and can be purchased at Bennett’s. Sponsorship packages are available for area businesses.

All dogs brought on site must be kept on a leash.
