Dell Guerra, a registered nurse, was recently named chairwoman of Lane Regional Medical Center Foundation’s board of directors.
The mission of the Lane RMC Foundation is to work with and support Lane Regional in its goal of providing high-quality health care while focusing on raising funds in support of LaneRMC programs and projects, a news release said.
The foundation’s current project is to raise $1 million for the Radiation Oncology Center on the Lane campus that opened March 2014.
Guerra has been in the health care field since age 15 when she served as a Red Cross volunteer nurse’s aide, working at a hospital near her hometown of Pine.
She began her career as a registered nurse at Lane in 1972 and was the first nurse to receive the hospital’s Nurse Excellence award.
Throughout her nursing career, Guerra has maintained a devoted commitment to Lane, the release said.
She serves as chairwoman of Lane’s board of commissioners and is director of nursing for the Serenity Center of Louisiana in Baton Rouge.
“I am committed to Lane because Lane is a part of me, of who I am,” Guerra said. “The hospital has been like a family to me, and I love the people and what they represent. I support the foundation and believe it to be an integral part of our community in providing funds to assist our health care facility in improving patient care.”
