First- and second-graders at Rollins Place Elementary School in Zachary prepared themselves for an active summer by competing in outdoor field day events on May 18, the last day of school.

The students rotated four classrooms at a time through the various events, which included mini-Cross Fit, sack races, a hula-hoop toss and an event called Saturday Night Bath, which had the students dunking a sponge into a bucket of water and passing it overhead to the classmate behind them in line.

Zachary students return to school Aug. 10.
