The YMCA has kicked off its fifth annual Costumes for Kids drive, which gives youths who cannot afford costumes the opportunity to enjoy the Halloween tradition. Donations will be accepted through Saturday at any of the Y’s nine locations.

The Zachary Y is located inside the Americana development at 4200 Liberty Way.

If you would like to request a costume for your child, call Kristen Hogan at (225) 923-0653, ext. 1104, or email khogan@ymcabr.org.

Fall Food Truck Fest

EFCU Financial will host a Fall Food Truck Fest from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 29, at its Zachary branch, 1804 Church St.

During the event, patrons can purchase culinary dishes from local food trucks set up in the EFCU Financial parking lot.

For each food order placed, EFCU will donate $1 to the Zachary Food Pantry to help fight hunger.

Attendees are encouraged to bring canned goods or nonperishable food items to place inside the on-site collection barrels.

Pullin’ Pork, Fleur de Licious, Rico Suave, Dat’z Italian Wood Fired Pizza, City Gelato and Cupcake Allie are scheduled to participate.

Arts, crafts vendors invited

Applications for arts and crafts vendors for the city’s annual “Christmas in the Village” celebration are now being accepted.

The holiday celebration is slated for 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Dec. 11, in the Zachary Historical Village. The event offers a unique shopping opportunity for anyone shopping for Christmas gifts.

Applications can be picked up at the Zachary Utility Office, 4650 Main St., or downloaded at cityofzachary.org.

All applicants must be the creators of their own arts and crafts. Vendors must provide their own tents, tables, lights and extension cords.

Spaces will accommodate a 10-by-10-foot booth, and setup will be outdoors on the gravel parking area behind the City Annex Hall building facing Virginia Street.

A total of 25 vendors will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Each vendor will operate as an individual entity and will be responsible for collecting his or her own city and state sales taxes, Zachary officials said.

A nonrefundable $25 fee will be charged per vendor space and will be donated back to the Christmas in the Village Fund to enhance the celebration.

The deadline for submitting applications is Nov. 30. Once completed, applications can be dropped off at the Zachary Utility Office.

For questions regarding arts and crafts participation, call Chantal Hudson, craft vendor coordinator, at (225) 603-1424 or email prosk8r2@cox.net; or call Sharon Phillips at (225) 654-0287 or email sharon.phillips@cityofzachary.org.
