Police chief thanks the community for kindness _lowres

Advocate staff photo by STACY GILL -- Blue ribbons, like this one on Lee Street and others like it throughout Zachary and other communities nationwide, are in honor of police officers.

As police chief of Zachary, I am writing to publicly say “thank you” to all of the community members who have reached out to myself and the dedicated officers of the Zachary Police Department during National Thank a Police Officer Day (Sept. 19).

Our officers and those across our country risk their lives to protect and serve their communities every day.

The recent show of support by so many Zachary residents demonstrates that an officer’s sacrifice and dedication to his duties doesn’t go unnoticed. Many of you have shown your appreciation by displaying blue ribbons, which shows just what a caring community we live in.

Everyone at the Police Department is humbled by your recent acts of gratitude and kindness, and we ask that you keep all men and women in law enforcement in your prayers.

It is an honor and a privilege to be your chief of police, and I am proud of my fellow police officers and the civilians that make up the Zachary Police Department.

Sincerely,

Chief David McDavid
