Baker Police Chief Mike Knaps was honored by Baker High School and the Buffaloes football team Oct. 23 during halftime of the school’s game against West Feliciana High.
Knaps, who will retire in June, was recognized for 36 years on the sidelines providing security for the football team.
“It’s very humbling. I’m extremely honored,” Knaps said.
It was the last home game for the Baker High team and the best time to present the plaque, school officials said.
“I was deeply touched that they took time to award me with such a very nice plaque,” Knaps said. “I have really enjoyed all the friendships I’ve made with all the players and coaches. Go Buffaloes!”
