Representatives from Mary Bird Perkins-Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center will be at Walgreens, 6485 Groom Road, Baker, on Friday conducting free cancer screenings.
From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and noon to 2 p.m., breast cancer screenings will be administered, but an appointment is required. To schedule a screening, call (225) 215-1234.
Skin cancer screenings will be conducted from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
Screenings are free if you have not been screened within the last 12 months. Insurance providers will be billed for mammograms, but for those without insurance, there will be no charge.
The screenings are made possible by donor gifts and through partnerships with Woman’s Hospital, Susan G. Komen for the Cure-Baton Rouge and YWCA Encore.
Baker High class reunion
Baker High School’s Class of 1970 will hold its 45th reunion beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday at Lagniappe Restaurant, 14030 Plank Road, Baker.
Cost to attend is $23 per person, which includes the meal.

Zachary freshmen orientation
All incoming Zachary High School ninth-graders and their parents are encouraged to attend freshman orientation Wednesday. Orientation for incoming 10th- through 12th-graders is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
Della Storms’ art techniques
Artists interested in techniques that will raise their artwork to the next level should plan to attend the Tuesday meeting of the Zachary Artists Guild.
Della Storms, renowned artist and teacher, will be the guest speaker. Storms will discuss standard techniques for artists of all skill levels and focus her discussion on oils and acrylics, but she will cover other mediums as well.
Questions will be fielded at the end of the meeting, which is slated to begin at 7 p.m. at the Zachary Chamber of Commerce, 4633 Main St.
The meeting is open to all members of ZAG, as well as the community.

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Zachary Committee will be hosting its annual Back-to-School Supplies Giveaway and Health Fair from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Zachary High School gym.
Besides school supplies, fingerprinting and children’s identification badges, door prizes, refreshments and a visit from Zachary firefighters will be featured.
Parents are asked to be present with their children during this family event.
Everyone attending is asked to bring one canned good or nonperishable food item per person for donation.

Stuff the Bus
The annual Stuff the Bus program, sponsored by Walgreens and Coca Cola of Baton Rouge, will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 2 at Walgreens, 5061 Main St., in Zachary.
School supplies, donations and proceeds from this event will directly support students and schools in Zachary.
