Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jeffrey Marx will be honored at a book launch party and signing from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Sammy’s Grill, 20335 Old Scenic Highway, Zachary.

“Walking with Tigers: A Collection of LSU Sports Stories” will be the focus of the event co-hosted by Frank Brian, LSU sports Hall of Famer and former NBA All-Star.

Brian, 92, of Zachary, is featured in the book along with Tiger greats Alex Bregman, Dale Brown, Kimberlyn Duncan, Leonard Fournette, Bert Jones, Mikie Mahtook, Raph Rhymes, Stanley Roberts, Jimmy Taylor and many others.

Marx is the author of six books, including two New York Times best-sellers “Season of Life” and “The Long Snapper.”

In addition to book tour events, Marx is conducting a program, along with statewide sponsor Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar and regional sponsor Business First Bank, to donate thousands of books to schools and youth groups throughout Louisiana.

Awarded the Pulitzer for a series of articles on cheating in college basketball, Marx is a native of New York and now is based in Baton Rouge.

His “Walking with Tigers” is an unconventional collection of LSU sports stories — not about games but about people and their lives.

Stories about the Bengal Belles, a lucky can of corn and an LSU sports bar in New York City also are featured in the book.
