While plenty of attention was focused on the Zachary Broncos football team as it swept to its second Class 5A state championship in three years, some other local athletes enjoyed success as their respective fall sports campaigns were completed.

Two Broncos make decisions

After focusing their attention on helping the Zachary football team earn the Class 5A state title, defensive tackle Ke’Shawn Sullivan and place-kicker Martell Fontenot have made their college choices.

Sullivan will play for Army and Fontenot will be a Southern Jaguar. Sullivan, a 4.0 student, had 57 tackles and 7 sacks as a senior. Fontenot received his offer from the Jaguars the week before the Broncos defeated West Monroe in the semifinals.

Northeast’s Banks All-District

Northeast sophomore volleyball player Albrecana Banks earned a spot on the Division IV, District 3 second team all-district volleyball team.
