Zachary High art teacher Megan Buccere is the winner of the Ann Connelly Fine Art Award presented at the Art Melt at the Louisiana Capital Museum in July.

The juried event, presented by Forum 35, featured more than 60 pieces by 300 artists from around Louisiana and ran from July 24 through Aug. 15.

A total of four awards were given: first, second and third place and the Ann Connelly award.

The honor entitles Buccere to a group exhibition at the gallery in 2016, as well as a framing voucher.

The painting that won her the award is titled “Soul’s Release,” an 18-inch by 24-inch pastel.

On Oct. 20, Buccere was presented with a certificate of recognition by the Zachary Community School Board, acknowledging her work and the award.
