The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Zachary Committee celebrated its annual Candlelight March on Monday, honoring the legacy of King.

Themed “Peace, Love and Unity,” the march has been held every year for the past 30 years.

MLK Committee members, city and civic leaders, residents and families united in prayer at Zachary City Hall prior to the march that included Mayor David Amrhein and wife Robyn, East Baton Rouge Metro Councilman Trae Welch, Zachary City Court Judge Lonny Myles, Councilman Tommy Womack, Police Chief David McDavid and Superintendent Scott Devillier, among others.

The group proceeded along Main Street to New Pilgrim Baptist Church, where a program was held for the community.

Louisiana Court of Appeals Judge John Michael Guidry served as guest speaker, with area church choirs participating.
