The Exxon Plainslander’s annuitant club is looking for a few good club members.

“We are looking for new members to join us on a quarterly basis, share a meal and listen to varied speakers,” said Joe Dilmon, club president. “The vast majority of our membership live in and around the Felicianas and Zachary.”

The Plainslanders Club meets four times annually, enjoying fellowship and renewing old friendships with co-workers and their spouses.

Past guest speakers have included Randy Olson, CEO of Lane Regional Medical Center, who shared information about the future growth of services offered by the hospital; Tracy Banowetz, of West Feliciana, who provided information on indigenous plants of south Louisiana and the Master Gardener program; Leo Honeycutt, who discussed his book on former governor Edwin Edwards; Laura O’Brien, certified trainer and owner of Fitness Design for Women, who spoke on health and fitness; and Dr. Javier Nevarez, from LSU’s School of Veterinary Medicine and Wildlife Hospital, who provided information on various birds of south Louisiana and held a show and tell with live birds.

Dave Dartez, with Exxon Mobil Human Resources, and Rory Denicola, with Exxon Mobil’s Public Affairs, also have been speakers at club meetings.

Retirees from Exxon Mobil facilities in the area are invited to attend the next quarterly meeting beginning at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at the First Baptist Church of Zachary in the Family Life Center.
