Zachary High School’s Class of 1966 held its 50-year reunion at Fennwood Hills Country Club in Zachary on June 18.
Alumni from as far away as Oregon attended, visiting with classmates and sharing memories, alumna Olivia Stelly Burns said.
Of the 80 people who attended the reunion, about half were graduates. Music was performed by local musician Clay Boudreaux. Classmates provided food for the reunion, she said.
On June 17, women from the Zachary High class attended a luncheon at a Zachary restaurant.
Burns, who lives in Zachary, said former Zachary High coach Billy Honeycutt and his wife, Emily, of St. Francisville, have not missed a reunion in 50 years, nor has Nelwyn Hatcher Tynes, a retired educator, of Clinton.
“She came to ZHS when we were in middle school as a PE teacher and ‘whooped’ us into shape,” Burns said of Tynes, who recently turned 80. “Several members of our class live in the Felicianas.”
