Baton Rouge Community College’s Bears basketball team opened its season Nov. 1 with a win, defeating Bossier Parish Community College 116-105.

Five Bears finished the game in double digits: Erik Thomas with 24 points; Seth Jackson, 19; Jermaine Johnson, 17; Drexler Davis, 16; and Damian Young with 11 points.

Davis, a 2014 Zachary High graduate, attends BRCC on an athletic scholarship.

The Zachary guard also wears the same jersey number for the Bears — 22 — as he did playing for the Broncos.

Davis and BRCC head coach Ricky Wilson both reside in Zachary.

The Bears’ next home games are at 6 p.m. Nov. 20 against Pearl River and 4 p.m. Nov. 22 against Marion Military Institute.

Admission is free to home basketball games this season.
