The Zachary Athletic Department’s and Copper Mill Golf Club will host the annual four-person scramble golf tournament to benefit Zachary Community Schools Athletics on April 2. The tournament benefits athletics in all the Zachary Schools and is one of the most important athletic fundraisers of the year.
The entry fee is $400 per team ($100 per player) and includes all fees, prizes, food and beverages. Lunch will be served at noon with a tee time scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
"This is a day that our entire athletic department looks forward to because it gives us a chance to personally thank all of our supporters and spend some time with them," Athletic Director David Brewerton said. "We have received tremendous feedback from participants from last year’s tournament, and we plan to make this one even bigger. We are experiencing a stellar year athletically, and it’s a direct reflection of the support we receive from our community."
Door prizes will be provided to all participants with team prizes awarded for first, second and third place and individual prizes for closest to the pin, longest drive and hole-in-one challenge.
“The best thing about the golf tournament is you have everyone supporting Zachary athletics in the same place having a good time, but for one cause, and that is to raise funds and keep the Zachary Broncos as the premier athletic program in the state," said local business owner and ZHS alum John Stagg.
Sponsorship opportunities are available for existing sponsors of Zachary athletics and new sponsors to advertise your business on the course during the tournament and/or donate a door prize. If you would like to find out more about sponsorship levels and opportunities, email email@example.com.

Brown and Broncos continue to haunt West Monroe
With his first at bat of the night, Keilon Brown’s swing gave West Monroe’s baseball team an instant flashback to the Class 5A football semifinals three months ago. Brown’s triple lead off a tempo-setting first inning for the Broncos in tournament action on March 8 and great pitching by Joey Blanchard and Tanner Hall kept the West Monroe batters at bay in a Broncos victory. Blanchard struck out five in five innings and Hall struck out three batters in one inning of relief.
Brown finished with 3 hits and 5 RBIs. Rhett Hebert also picked up two hits in the Broncos victory. Brown came up with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth and delivered another triple to beat the Rebels by 10-run rule 14-2. The Broncos lost to Sam Houston 4-5 and beat Sulphur 5-3 during the tournament.
