The Crowning Moment, which offers youth mentoring and pageant coaching to girls across the Gulf Coast, had five girls from the Baton Rouge and Alexandria areas compete in the Miss Southern Oaks Scholarship Pageant in Gonzales on Sept. 20.

Among the contestants were Layna Baker, of Baker, and Ailynn Fresina, of Zachary.

Contestants competed in private interviews with judges, physical fitness, evening gown and onstage questions.

Ailynn won the title of Miss Louisiana Lagniappe Junior Princess.

The Miss Southern Oaks Scholarship Pageant, directed by Courtney Bienvenue and Dorie Berry, is part of the Miss America Organization.

Additionally, Kailah Fresina, of Zachary, and Caitlin Hager, of Central, competed in the Ascension Parish Cinderella Preliminary Pageant in Prairieville on Sept. 27.

The girls competed in onstage questions, casual wear and party wear categories. A talent portion of the pageant was held for girls ages 7 and older.

Kailah won Cinderella Tot Overall Queen, and Caitlin captured the title of Cinderella Miss Overall Queen.

They will represent their titles in the upcoming state Cinderella Pageant.
