Eagle Scout Dell Dickerson, a member of Boy Scout Troop 13 of Central, recently enriched the lives of Baton Rouge Zoo’s goats with a project he completed.

The 17-year-old designed and constructed a playground for the goats living in the zoo’s Kids Zoo. Climbing is a natural behavior for goats, so the structure encourages the animals to fulfill their instincts to climb. It also provides a place for the goats to rest.

The zoo has benefited from other projects from Troop 13, including native bee boxes by Joseph “Scotty” Miller in 2015 and butterfly boxes by Trent Alderman in 2013. Both projects are still in service at the zoo. Prothonotary warbler nest boxes will be installed at the zoo later this year by 15-year-old Ethan Raborn.

The zoo recently launched an Amazon Wish List for its animals. The public can view the wish list at amzn.to/2zBei4p.
