Zachary High School’s agriscience and Future Farmers of America students have been busy toiling in the dirt in anticipation of their spring plant sale slated for March 14-24.

The community plant sale will be from about 6:30 a.m. to about 3 p.m. Monday through Friday in the school’s greenhouses at the rear of campus.

Students in Melissa Brumbaugh’s classes are growing a variety of vegetable and flowering plants to sell, including cucumbers, squash, tomatoes and zucchini and begonia, coleus, salvia and verbena.

The plant sale serves as a fundraiser for the Zachary High FFA chapter, helps fund various camps and conventions for the students as well as pays for competition fees, Brumbaugh said.
