The Zachary Charity League, a group of women who work together to raise funds for various community organizations, groups, entities, volunteer organizations or school groups, has welcomed 15 new members.

The group — which includes Laura Kate Amrhein, Robyn Amrhein, Aimee Barr, Renee Beadle, Jaime Engels, Carrie Godbold, Ava Howard, Claire Simmons, Christy Turner and Carole Wilkins — welcomes Michelle Boutte, Samantha Bowman, Elizabeth Bradford, Amanda Brunson, Amber Guidry, Sondra Harborth, Elizabeth Hess, Kimberly Kent, Jaime Knight, Hannah Plauche, Bridgette Siebert, Kenisha Thymes, Katie Underwood, Sharron Ventura and Lynn Welch.

The Zachary Charity League will raise funds for the 2015-16 period for the Lane Regional Medical Center Foundation, Louisiana Pediatric Cardiology Foundation’s heart screenings at Zachary High School, teacher Stacey Hodges’ Genius Hour Project, teacher Michelle Clement’s engineering club and the Zachary Historical Village’s walking trail at the train depot.

To kick off its fundraising season, a trip to Disney World or $2,000 in cash will be raffled off on Sept. 26 at the Code Red Chili Cook-off at Americana.

Raffle tickets are $10 each and can be purchased from any ZCL member, by visiting LeBlanc’s Food Stores from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 12 or by sending a message to the Charity League on its Facebook page.

Only 1,000 tickets were printed.

Upcoming ZCL activities include a garage sale on Oct. 3 and Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 5.

Events for 2016 will include the Gatsby Gala, a community Easter egg hunt, bed races and a concert.
