Jamin Kidd, of Zachary, was one of six seniors to graduate with distinction, the highest academic honor given by Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts, on May 21 during a commencement ceremony in Prather Coliseum on the campus of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.

Graduation with distinction is awarded to students who complete a rigorous program of independent academic study or artistic endeavor beyond the formal course requirements of LSMSA, according to a news release.

Kidd was mentored by physics instructor Robert Dalling. His project was “Proximity-induced ferromagnetism on a topological insulator surface: Using Bismuth Celanoid and European Sulfide heterostructures.”
