In April, the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office K9 Division competed at the 2015 U.S. Police Canine Association’s Region 10 championships, where Capt. James Broussard and Indo received the Top Dog Overall award and placed first in patrol dog, agility, article search, box search and scent work.

In October, the pair won the Top Dog Overall honors at the USPCA National Trials in Wilson, North Carolina, making them the first Region 10 team from Louisiana to win Nationals. While there, Broussard and Indo competed against 46 agencies and 104 police K9 teams representing 26 regions, scored 693.34 points out of a possible 700, and received perfect scores in three of the five events.

Additional EBRSO K9 teams winning awards at the Region 10 trials were: Sgt. Shannon Graham and Mylo, Top Dog Overall in narcotics detection, first place narcotics dog, first place in indoor search and second place in outdoor search as well as vehicle search; Cpl. Matthew Hurley and Diezel, second place in agility and third place in criminal apprehension; Cpl. Diana Wales and Enzo, second place in criminal apprehension; and Sgt. Jesse Hale and Jumma, third place overall in narcotics detection.
