Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre’s Youth Ballet is in the midst of a summer tour and conducting free performances of the children’s ballet “Graduation Ball” at local libraries, youth camps, community centers, retirement centers and nursing homes throughout East Baton Rouge Parish.

The lighthearted comedic ballet, directed by Rebecca Acosta, features a group of Viennese girls and military cadets at their graduation ball.

Intermediate-level dancers ages 10 to 14 were chosen at citywide auditions to perform in the ballet, which gives dancers the opportunity to improve technique and develop skills while sharing their talents with the community, a news release said.

On June 2 and 6, the ballet dancers performed about 45 minutes for children and families attending the Baker, Central, Greenwell Springs and Zachary libraries.
